It’s been a violent week in Baltimore with one shocking crime after another. It started Friday when a priest heading into a church in Little Italy was robbed and pistol-whipped in broad daylight.
On Saturday a deadly crime spree ended with an off-duty police officer shooting and killing a suspect in a barbershop. Police say the suspect shot three barbers, killing two of them before he was shot and killed.
Then Tuesday another horrifying crime when 69-year-old Evelyn Player was found dead, murdered inside of the church where she was a longtime church and staff member in East Baltimore.
Bishop Angel Nunez says with all that’s going on the city is reaching a tipping point. “The state of Baltimore and the nation is a disaster. We don’t care about life any longer,” he said. “They’ll kill children. They’ll kill the elderly,” he said.
He says the city can’t afford to wait much longer. “Getting upset is one thing. Doing something about it is another,” he said.
“I’m talking to the community. Get up pick up that phone and communicate with the police department so we can solve this. It’s just going to continue again and again and again,” he said.
